Parade sure to light up holidays
Peck is marshal as event offers full day, new features
“Lights…camera…Christmas” is the theme and Terri Peck has been named the grand marshal as the Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce plans for thousands to converge here for the annual Christmas parade.
This year’s parade is 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 and, as always, will be punctuated by the fireworks spectacular plus a new feature this year.
The fireworks show will be accompanied by a new laser light show, adding an extra dimension to this year’s celebration.
The parade will feature lighted entries as it moves south down Main Street from Interbank to BancFirst, none brighter than the parade marshal.
Peck retired from teaching after nearly four decades and now spends her time volunteering and serving in a multitude of capacities throughout the community.
Peck is a member of Theta Tau, Kingfisher County Retired Educators Association and the Kingfisher First United Methodist Church, among other groups.
She’s delivered for Meals on Wheels and even has volunteered her time to take others to doctor appointments.
Peck is also heavily involved in Kingfisher Winter Nights.
She coordinates other volunteers to work during the event and also helps keep track of community service hours for area youth.
Her efforts were recognized in January 2022 when she was recognized as the “2021 Volunteer of the Year” at the annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet.
Here are some things to know for those who plan to take part in the festivities:
• Handicap parking will be on East Admire on both the north and south sides of the road;
• Portable restroom facilities will be located along Broadway, Miles and Admire;
• There are some precautions to note regarding the laser light show. (Note: See corresponding story on this page.)
