Perdue praised at final meeting
One day before a new member of the Kingfisher Board of Education was elected, one of the current members served in his last meeting.
Outgoing board President Jim Perdue was presented a plaque of appreciation during Monday night’s April regular meeting.
Perdue was elected to the board in 2018 to serve a five-year term.
He opted to not run again as his board seat came up for election.
“It’s been a fun experience,” Perdue said near the end of Monday’s meeting.
Superintendent David Glover offered his appreciation to Perdue.
“I know I appreciate your time on the board,” Glover said. “I know it’s not always a fun thing.
“It’s a thankless job, although it pays real well.”
School board members earn no pay for their service.
Perdue was on the board for the hiring of two superintendents, most recently Glover last June.
“I really appreciate you helping give me this opportunity because this has been a blessing for me,” Glover said. “I appreciate your support.”
Glover gave board Vice President Charles Walker the plaque to present to Perdue. The plaque read: “Given in grateful appreciation of dedication and meritorious service to the students of Kingfisher Schools.”
Walker will take over as president at a reorganization of the board at its next meeting.
Mitch Massey and Brad Wittrock filed to fill the board position held by Perdue and the election was held Tuesday. The results weren’t available until after press time of this edition.
