Phillips Bridge work moves another step closer to start date

COUNTY BRIDGE WORK

By

Kingfisher County commissioners took action on two bridge projects Monday, moving them closer to construction.

Commissioners approved a payment of a $10,000 invoice from Pinnacle Consulting Management Group for easement work on the Phillips Bridge over Kingfi sher Creek northeast of Kingfisher, which is scheduled for replacement later this year and a $2,500 invoice from Pinnacle for easement work on a bridge over an unnamed creek on Dover-Crescent Road where paving work is planned this year.

The Phillips Bridge is located in District 1 and the D-C bridge in District 2.

District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek said additional easement was needed to deal with frequent flooding problems at the bridge site, which could be a threat to the new paving work on the roadway.

Both actions received unanimous approval from Shimanek, Heath Dobrovolny, District 3, and Jeff Moss, District 1.

Commissioners also approved a request from Dustin Albright, executive director of the Garfield County Child Advocacy Council to place wooden cutouts of children on the Kingfisher County Courthouse lawn through the month of April.

Each cutout represents a confirmed victim of child abuse in the county. The displays are designed to increased public awareness of child abuse.

Commissioners also discussed lawn care service at the courthouse for the 2024 season.

County Engineer Nik Smith said he would begin work on details of an agreement this week.

County Clerk Jeannie Boevers served as official minute clerk for the meeting.
