Police Apprehend Shooting Suspect in Florida
A suspect in a quadruple homicide Sunday night at a Lacey area marijuana grow facility was arrested just before 4 p.m. in Miami Beach, Fla., the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation announced.
Wu Chen, 45, was arrested without incident by the Miami Beach Police Department on a Kingfisher County warrant after a car tag reader flagged the vehicle he was driving, according to an OSBI report. He was transported to the Miami Dade County Detention Center where he awaits extradition to Oklahoma on charges of muder and shooting with intent to kill.
Chen is suspected of killing four individuals and wounding a fifth person in an incident at an unlicensed marijuana grow facility owned by a company identified in the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority's online data base as Liu and Chen Inc. The grow facility's license expired Nov. 1, according to the data base. Chen's relationship to the company, if any, has not been disclosed, but Kingfisher County Sheriff Dennis Banther said the shooting appears to have arisen from an internal dispute in the business.
Assisting the OSBI with this investigation were the U.S. Marshals Western District Task Force, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), Oklahoma State Fire Marshal’s Office, Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA), Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office, Hennessey Police Department and the Miami Beach, FL Police Department.
The collaboration between agencies was critical in taking a violent murder suspect into custody, the OSBI said in its news release.
