Preliminary hearing set in late June for Myers, Nall
The preliminary hearing for two former Kingfisher High School football coaches facing felony charges has been set.
The hearing for Jeff Myers and Micah Nall will be June 27-28 and, if necessary, July 1, at Kingfisher County District Court.
Preliminary hearings are court proceedings where the state must prove sufficient evidence exists to hold a case for trial.
Myers and Nall were charged last October.
Myers faces a count of child neglect and Nall a count of child abuse and one of perjury.
Once the charges were filed, Myers was placed on administrative leave by Kingfisher Public Schools.
A settlement agreement in a related civil case brought on by Mason Mecklenburg required the school to not rehire Myers as head football coach nor let him coach in any capacity with the district again.
Nall was relieved of his coaching duties prior to the 2021 season.
Both appeared in court on Tuesday before judge Allison Lafferty, who has been assigned their cases.
Nall was represented by Miguel Garcia and Myers by Joe White.
The state was represented by Assistant District Attorney Jimmy Bunn.
The attorneys met briefly in the courtroom with Lafferty prior to going on the record.
The proceeding had a larger crowd than most as several people sat behind members of Myers’ family, who were seated on the front row of the courtroom.
