Rain at last; from spotty to significant
Spotted Thursday morning rain provided additional relief to county crops.
Amounts varied widely from “just enough to get the street wet” at the National Weather Center station operated by Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis in Kingfisher to 1.7 inches at the Mike and Donna Reid residence along Park Community Road southwest of Kingfisher.
The CHS Elevator at Hennessey showed .2 inch while other local reports ranged in the .3 to .4 inch range.
Twila Adams reported .5 inch at her residence east of Kingfisher.
Okarche Grain and Feed Elevator and Cashion Grain and Feed Elevator both reported one inch of rain.
The rain boosted crops in the areas where it fell but most reports indicated more rain is needed on the thirsty crops and soon.
The Mesonet site on the Mueggenborg Farm west of Kingfisher recorded .52 inch of rain.
Other Mesonet readings included .88 inch at Watonga, .13 inch at El Reno, .92 inch at Guthrie and .18 inch at Marshall.
