Recent Kingfisher Police Department reports

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:

October 4 - Larceny of lost property.

Officer Kyle Svoboda responded to a report of theft at Casey’s General Store, 102 S. Main St.

According to the report, Chet Cotton stated that he accidentally left his phone in the bathroom and when he returned it was missing.

Cotton and his coworker called the phone and a male answered, but said he was on a worksite and couldn’t return the phone, according to the report.

The suspect then provided the address of the worksite and Svoboda, Cotton and his coworker located the suspect and the phone at the address, the report said.

Officer Aaron Schlegel reviewed store surveillance footage and confirmed with Svoboda that the suspect observed on film was the same individual who returned the phone at the worksite.

September 26 - DUI-liquor or drugs/APCV, driving with license canceled/suspended/revoked, possession of dangerous drugs prohibited- marijuana, unlawful possession of paraphernalia, no insurance, operate unregistered motor vehicle and possession of dangerous drugs prohibited.

Officer Aaron Schlegel responded to a report of a reckless driver traveling northbound on U.S. 81.

Schlegel said in his report that he observed the suspect’s vehicle swerving and initiated a traffic stop.

According to the report, “a strong odor of marijuana” was coming from the vehicle and the 34-year-old was driving without a valid driver’s license.

The suspect showed the officer a “mostly smoked marijuana blunt,” and said that was all officers would find in the vehicle, according to the report.

Schlegel performed field sobriety tests on the suspect and placed the suspect under arrest for driving under the influence of drugs and no driver’s license, the report said.

Sergeant Justin Trumbley located other contra- band in the vehicle which included a clear baggy of white crystal-like substance (which later tested positive for methamphetamine), a glass smoking pipe with white residue, a container with green leafy residue, one and a half marijuana blunts, a baggy of marijuana and a bottle of Gabapentin (with the name on the prescription label removed), according to the report.

Officers performed an inventory of the vehicle and it was towed.

The suspect was transported to Mercy Hospital Kingfisher where he received medical clearance for incarceration and was then transported to the Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center.

October 14 - Petit larceny- state and receiving/ possessing/ concealing stolen property.

Officer Derek Grassmann responded to a report of a stolen bicycle in the 700 block of South Seventh Street.

Eddie Ortiz reportedly stated a BMX Diamondback bike valued at $500 was missing from his residence.

On Oct. 17, Sergeant Justin Trumbley observed a bike outside of Cattlemen’s Inn matching the description, but was painted black, the report said.

According to the report, Trumbley made contact with a possible suspect at the motel, but the 50-yearold male denied that the bike belonged to him.

Grassman said in his report that he informed Trumbley that on Oct. 15, he had observed an individual matching the suspect’s description riding a black bike out of the motel parking lot and Officer McDaniel recorded the suspect on his dash cam.

Trumbley made contact with the suspect again and he stated that he found the bike and had been riding it to work, according to the report.
