Oklahoma Blood Institute announced a successful blood drive held here earlier this month.

A community blood drive on Sept. 18 resulted in 51 donors.

That’s the highest number of donors for a drive in Kingfisher since 2017.

“That provides the potential to save 153 lives right here in Oklahoma,” said Meaghan Dorn, an account consultant for the OBI in the Kingfisher area.

“Thank you, Kingfisher, for your dedication to helping serve our hospitals.”

The need for donors was heightened even more in June when the OBI announced an emergency shortage, meaning it had just a one-to two-day supply.

Dorn said OBI is still at a two-day supply level.
