Welcome showers covered Kingfisher County on Sunday, providing up to .88 inch of moisture over a three-day period, according to the Mesonet station on the Mueggenborg farm immediately west of Kingfisher.

Local Weather Observer Steven Loftis reported .9 inch at the National Weather Service Station in Kingfisher.

It was the first moisture recorded in Kingfisher during September.

The rain boosted pastures and lawns and provided hope for small grain producers who are preparing to begin sowing winter grain crops.

Local rainfall reports included .7 inch at both the Twila Adams residence, five miles east of Kingfisher and the Mike and Donna Reid residence 3.5 miles southwest of Kingfisher.

Cashion Grain and Feed Elevator recorded .3 inch.

Tom Arms Facebook site received several additional reports including .9 inch at his residence two miles west of Kingfisher, 1.1 inch by Marsha Mueggenborg in Kingfisher, .8 inch at the Joe Rother residence four miles south of Okarche, .5 inch by Sheryl Schroeder two miles south of Okarche and 1.02 inches by Cathy Howard northwest of Lacey as of Sunday morning.

Other area Mesonet readings included: Watonga .60, Guthrie .64, Woodward 2.93, El Reno 0.40, Norman 4.4 and Yukon .66.

The local forecast called for cooler temperatures for the remainder of the week with highs in the low 80s and high 70s with overnight lows in the 50s.

The forecast also called for a chance of additional showers on Tuesday with a 20% chance of rain over the weekend.
