Residents can now sign up to receive alerts from county emergency management offi ce

Registration is now open to begin receiving notifications from Kingfisher County Emergency Management.

The messages are designed to alert residents of issues that may affect safety, such as tornadoes, floods, gas leaks, power outages and other emergency notifi cations.

Residents who sign up to receive the alerts will have the option to receive the alerts via a phone call, email or text message.

The alerts will be distributed using Genasys Emercom/ gency Management (GEM), which is a multi-channel communication system.

To sign up, visit the Kingfi sher County Alert registration portal at https://kingfishercountyok. genasys.

portal/en/register.

Complete the necessary information then, then click “REGISTER” when finished.

Anyone can sign up for the alerts, whether living or working inside or outside of Kingfisher County.

A home or work address is requested but not required.

“However, not having a location in the system will prevent you from receiving critical weather alerts, such as tornadoes, and other alerts that are location- based,” said City-County Emergency Management Director Steve Loftis.

He added the information you share will be safe.

“The information you provide will only be used by Kingfisher County to send you alerts,” he said. “Your contact information will never be sold to an outside entity.”

Users can also unsubscribe from the alerts at any time by going to the registration portal and following the prompts. If users sign up to receive email messages, they will come from “Kingfisher Alerts (noreply@genasys. com)” and those who wish to receive phone calls will get them from 405-212-9604.

Text messages will come from the sender ID of 65513. “We recommend you create a contact in your phone called ‘Kingfisher Alerts’ with this information,” Loftis said.

If you have any issues or questions with registering, contact the emergency management office at 405-375-2792.
