Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce celebrated new ownership in town Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the 33 Express. The convenience store is located at the corner of State Highway 33 and 13th Street in Kingfisher. Its new owners are Sonny Patel, fourth from the left, and Yash Patel, standing behind Dia Patel who is ready to cut the ribbon with the scissors. Pictured just right of Yash and Dia is Kingfisher Chamber Executive Director Shauna Rupp, who was joined at the ceremony by several chamber board members. Also on hand were several employees of Kingfi sher Public Schools, who were there to show their appreciation to the Patels, who are donating 1¢ per gallon of gas and diesel sold to the school district. Since taking ownership, the Patels have made several upgrades to the store, including additional cooler space for beverages, new shelving, a remodeled restroom and the addition of Hunt Brothers Pizza, among others.
