Riedlinger no longer seeks election recount

By

There will be no recount in the election for Kingfisher County sheriff.

After initially stating he planned to seek a recount, Jonathan Riedlinger told the Times & Free Press early Friday evening that he changed his mind.

Riedlinger lost the election for Kingfisher County sheriff by 27 votes to Aaron Pitts last Tuesday.

After hearing “rumors” of potential incidents at a pair of polling locations, Riedlinger said he would seek a recount just to ensure the election’s integrity in all aspects, he said.

However, after speaking with Election Board Secretary Shawna Butts on Friday afternoon, Riedlinger said his concerns were allayed.

“I did some talking with the election board of the rumors and I came to the conclusion that it was not warranted,” Riedlinger said of a potential recount.
