The Kingfisher Rotary club featured two program subjects last Tuesday. Kingfisher Police Officers Dustin Brodrick, far left, and Quinton Cline, far right, speaking about the upcoming “Christmas With a Cop” scheduled for Dec. 10, when 10 local underprivileged children will have the opportunity to shop for Christmas presents for themselves and members of their immediate family. They said that many times such children see police officers in less than ideal circumstances regarding family disturbance calls and traffic stops, and the entire Kingfisher police force and their spouses enjoyed the opportunity to interact with the children in such a festive atmosphere. The children are allowed to ride in squad cars with the officers to shop at the store and then return to the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds to wrap their selected presents with the officers and their spouses. Donations are accepted and appreciated. Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Shauna Rupp, third from left, and staffer Laura Callaham, third from right, updated Rotarians and guests on Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce activities scheduled for the upcoming holiday season. That includes the Holiday Open House for retail stores, the community tree lighting, Small-Business Saturday and the annual downtown Christmas parade and fireworks display. Rupp also noted that the Kingfisher Winter Nights holiday lights display at Kingfisher Park begins Nov. 26.
