Rotary Club hosts 6 KHS seniors at recent meeting

Six Kingfisher High School seniors were guests recently at a meeting of the Kingfisher Rotary Club.

Joining the local civic group were Mauricio Valles, Reese Roof, Jhett Birdwell, Luciano Orozco, Shelby Davis and TJ Washington.

Valles is the son of Eleazar and Sandra Valles.

He’s involved the equine family business and attends St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Valles plans to attend college, be a member of the rodeo team and major in business with an accounting minor.

Roof is the daughter of Reagan and Lindsay Roof.

She’s active in basketball, softball, track, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society and National Honor Society.

Roof was selected basketball all-district first team, was a football homecoming candidate and was a member of the academic state champion basketball and softball teams.

She was a three-time 300-meter hurdles state qualifi er, fast-pitch softball state qualifier and basketball state qualifier.

Roof also serves as senior class president, was selected as Student of the Month and attends First Baptist Church.

She plans to attend Oklahoma State University and major in allied health.

Birdwell is the son of Joel and Bridget Birdwell.

He’s active in football, FCA and is a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society, National Honor Society and First Baptist Church.

Birdwell plans to attend OSU and major in animal science.

Orozco is the son of Norma and Junior Orozco.

He’s active in football, golf and basketball and was a two-time state qualifier in golf.

Orozco is also a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society and National Honor Society and had a perfect attendance record his junior year.

He also attends First Baptist Church.

Orozco plans to attend the University of Oklahoma and major in business.

Davis is the daughter of Shelly Meade and Gary Davis, Jr.

She’s active in softball, FCA and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Davis was also selected as softball first-team all-district and all-region catcher.

She plans to attend college and be a member of the softball team, then attend Texas A&M University with a goal of pursuing a career in veterinary medicine.

Washington is the son of Dawn Taylor.

He’s active in choir, football and wrestling.

Washington has been selected to perform for three years at Western Oklahoma Choral Directors Association (WOCDA), attends the welding program at Chisholm Trail Technology Center and is a member of God’s Covenant Church.

He plans to attend college or pursue a career in welding.
