ROTARY SPEAKER – Jalaina Hammett, right, fundraising and communications manager of Okarche’s Center of Family Love, was the featured speaker of the Kingfi sher Rotary Club last week. She presented segments of a video that will be available this summer on several streaming services including Amazon Prime and Netflix. The documentary features CFL residents telling their stories on how they came to be residents of the facility that houses adults with mental and physical developmental disabilities. Started in 1981, with 10 residents, CFL now is home to 130 residents. Hammett said funds are now being raised for a $30 million facility for daytime training programs on an 80-acre plot of land in the Piedmont area. She said approximately $8 million has already been secured for the project and the stateof- the-art facility will provide cutting-edge programming paired with training and development, with collaboration from world-class partners, including chefs, veterinarian assistants, ballet teachers, artists, entrepreneurs, teacher assistants and leaders. Hammett invited those in attendance to go the CFL website at: www.cfl inc.org. She is pictured with Kingfi sher Rotary Club President Jason Harris. [KT&FP Staff Photo]
