ROTARY PROGRAM – Nate Meier of Okeene Milling Company, left, was the guest speaker of the Kingfi sher Rotary Club recently. Pictured with Kingfi sher Rotarian Jenny Nusz, who arranged for the presentation, Meier told of the history of Shawnee Mills, the parent company of Okeene Milling, and said Bob and Bill Ford operated the only veteran-owned flour mill still in operation in the nation. Established in 1906, the company continues to flourish as a bulk and commercial flour and grain operation, with made-in-Oklahoma products shipped to commercial bakeries and supermarkets all over the southwest and midwest region. He said the company was also active in the livestock and pet food industry. Meier was raised in Okeene, where he currently resides with his family and also serves as mayor. [KT&FP Staff Photo]
