Rourke hosts March Farmerettes meeting
The Hennessey Farmerettes met Thursday, March 9, in the home of Lily Rourke who served as hostess and DeDee Krueger as lesson leader.
President Dot Miller opened the meeting and Krueger gave a lesson on hobbies and their importance in members’ lives.
She distributed and shared information on the subject. Both present and past hobbies were revealed by members.
The pledge was given to the American flag and, following the pledge, a photo was taken of members saluting the flag.
Jean Stribel asked for volunteer project forms and distributed new forms to use during the month and return to her at the April meeting.
The devotion “Waters of Encouragement” was given by Mary Curry.
A thank-you card was read from McConnell thanking members for the ham and thinking of her at the death of her son, Wayne.
Roll call was answered by 11 members sharing more information about their hobbies.
The minutes of the February meeting were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was also given.
Miller told about the “Reality Check” meeting she attended for sophomore girls.
Reports were presented of the Spring County Meeting held March 7 in Kingfisher.
Four members attended the meeting and two members were unable to attend due to their serving at the election polling places that day. Club members praised those members for their patriotism and service.
Dates were given for later this month and the month of May.
Members were informed the County OSU Extension office staff are currently operating at a different location.
Janie Stewart and Sarah Matousek were reported to be having health issues.
The meeting was adjourned and members sampled homemade pie.
The quarter drill was won by McConnell.
