Schwarz Asphalt bid approved for road work in 2 county districts
The $5,289,731.61 low bid from Schwarz Asphalt to do paving work in Districts 1 and 3 received approval from Kingfisher County commissioners Monday at their weekly meeting.
The District 1 projects totaled $2,962,789.61 and the District 3 projects totaled $2,326,942.
District 2 did not qualify for inclusion in the paving work under the state’s “lame duck” law because Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek is retiring at the end of his current term in January.
Commissioners also unanimously approved two claims for right-of-way parcels near an unnamed creek on the Dover-Crescent Road resurfacing project, one for $2,500 and the second for $500.
The right-of-way was purchased in an effort to prevent flooding damage to the road in the future.
Ovintiv received permission for pipeline county road crossings for a three-inch and a 12-inch pipeline in District 1, both located four miles east and three miles north of Okarche.
A pipeline crossing for a 12-inch lay flat line starting two miles west and one mile south of Loyal and extending southwesterly also received approval in District 3.
Commissioners also approved monthly reports for the offices of sheriff, county clerk, treasurer, assessor and health department and approved payment of a $26,414.57 bridge inspection invoice from Circuit Engineering District 8 for 135 bridge safety inspections in all three districts.
All county commissioners – Jeff Moss, District 1, chairman; Shimanek, District 2, vice-chairman, and Anthony Schwarz, District 3 – along with Deputy County Clerk Emily Lee as minute clerk, County Engineer Nik Smith, and Emergency Management Director Ryan Deatherage attended the meeting.
