September sales tax revenue soars in area
September proved productive for many Kingfisher County towns with increases above sales tax collections last year.
Kingfisher County showed the largest percentage of increase with a gain of 100.2%.
Kingfisher County’s sales tax collections for September totaled $831,297.76, up from $415,191.96 in September 2021, likely due to an uptick in oilfield activity.
Kingfisher enjoyed a sizable increase, also – $502,931.32 from a 3.5% sales tax, up from $297,840.12 tax last year derived from a 3% tax. Percentagewise, the increase was 44.7% per penny of tax collected.
Dover led all towns in percentage of increase at 49.8% – $13,536.08 this September compared to $9,038.15 in September 2021.
The September 2022 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from July business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically.
The monies they reported this period represent sales from July 16 to 31 and estimated sales from August 1 to August 15.
The disbursement of $199,381,484 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $15,070,220 from the $184,311,264 distributed to the cities and towns in September last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $32,781,703.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $34,186,297 sales tax disbursement and a $5,596,245 use tax disbursement.

Kingfisher County – $167,227.33 and $142,615.59. Use tax is collected on items purchased out of county for delivery within the county and use tax rates are the same as the entity’s sales tax.
