Several county residents without power
Parts of Cashion and Crescent remained without power early Friday afternoon after storms earlier in the week wreaked havoc on several parts of central Oklahoma.
According to its most recent press release, every OG&E district in Oklahoma and Arkansas was impacted by damaging winds and severe storms that moved through the company’s service area Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
As of 1 p.m. Friday, approximately 95% of customers who experienced an outage had been restored, with approximately 4,000 remaining without service.
“OG&E understands how important it is for customers to have electricity, especially given the extreme temperatures which are expected in the coming days,” said an OG&E spokesperson just after the storms passed through.
There are 1,300 OG&E operations personnel restoring service to individual homes and businesses that can accept power and they will continue to work around the clock until power is fully restored.
The storm damage was extensive, according to OG&E.
In addition to power restoration, crews are still working on grid repairs – replacing poles and lines, repairing damage to substations, circuits and equipment.
Storm damage includes: 300 power poles, 115,000 feet of overhead lines, 1,000 crossarms and 300 transformers.
Following storms, OG&E will bring tree and brush debris to the curb; however, customers are responsible for removing the debris. City and county resources for debris removal may be available and vary by community.
According to its outage map, more than 800 people in Crescent and the immediate area were still without power at 1 p.m. Friday.
An area that included parts of Cashion and areas to the east and northeast, stretching to Cimarron City, included more than 730 without power at that time.
