Shimanek reappointed to CED board of directors
District 2 County Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek received unanimous reappointment to the Circuit Engineering District No. 8 board of directors Monday at Kingfi sher County commissioners’ weekly meeting.
Shimanek has represented the county on the board, which provides engineering assistance on county projects in northern and northwest Oklahoma since the engineering districts were created in 2014.
District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss praised Shimanek’s service on the board when nominating him for reappointment. District 3 Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny joined Moss in praising Shimanek’s service and voting for him to continue in the position.
The statute creating the engineering districts authorizes counties to join together for cooperative efforts for their mutual benefit, such as research, inspections, educational programs, long-range studies and efforts to improve the quality of counties’ transportation systems in a cost-effective way.
The board meets monthly at CED No. 8’s headquarters in Alva.
Counties in the district besides Kingfisher, include: Alfalfa, Beaver, Cimarron, Ellis, Harper, Kay, Major, Noble, Texas and Woodward.
In other action during a 10-minute meeting, commissioners approved the following:
• Disposal of surplus air conditioners from the old jail;
• Declaration as surplus a label printer in the county clerk’s office;
• Declaration as surplus for District 1 a 2017 Ram 5500 pickup truck; • Monthly state reimbursement forms for the election board and district attorney’s offices;
• Permit for BM Power Up, Inc. to place a three-inch line across a county road one mile west and three miles north of Okarche, in District 3, and,
• And a federal aid project for the Uncle John Bridge on Lemon Road in District 1.
Dobrovolny, board chairman, reported he would at-tend a settlement hearing in the suit Hendrix vs. Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Department at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Western U.S. District Court in Oklahoma City.
Present for Monday’s meeting in addition to commissioners were County Clerk Jeannie Boevers as official minute clerk and County Engineer Nik Smith.
