State BOE starts teacher certification revocation process for Myers, Nall
At the urging of State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters, the Oklahoma State Board of Education members Thursday took a first step in revoking the teaching certificate of two former Kingfisher coaches.
The move was made during the board’s February meeting.
According to the agenda, the board voted unanimously “to refer pending applications to revoke the teacher certificates” of Jeff Myers and Micah Nall “to a hearing officer.”
Myers is the former KHS head football coach and Nall was an assistant coach for several years. They were among four coaches named in a civil suit along with the King- fisher school district brought about by Mason Mecklenburg.
That suit was settled by the district for $5 million late last year.
As part of the settlement, the district agreed to not allow Myers to coach in the district again.
Prior to the settlement, Myers and Nall were charged with felonies in October.
Myers was charged with child neglect and Nall with child abuse and perjury.
Since those charges, Myers has been on administrative leave with KPS.
Nall, who left KPS in 2021, has been on administrative leave with Western Heights Public Schools.
Both have pleaded not guilty to their respective charges.
The next court date for each is set for April 2.
No timeline was announced in regards to the certificate revocation process.
