Pride of Kingfisher earns highest rating at regional
The Pride of Kingfisher earned a police escort into town on Wednesday after earning a “Superior” rating (or a “1”) at the OSSAA regional marching band contest in Enid. A superior is the highest rating that can be achieved at the regional and it’s the first time the Kingfisher High School band has earned the honor since 2017. The distinction gives the Pride of Kingfisher a chance at earning a sweepstakes trophy from the OSSAA if it can also follow up with superior ratings at concert and sight reading contests later this school year. Pictured at right are band directors Mandy Owens, left, and Dakota Horn, right, with Syra Littlehawk, the drum major for the Pride of Kingfisher. Pictured above are those who took part in the contest and performed a series of songs with the “superhero” theme. They are, from left: front row, Owens, Ana Cuellar, Addison Homier, Ashlyn Homier, KC Ortega, Littlehawk, Emily Altizer, Angela Munoz, Tommy Anderman, Lyndsi Moyeda, Cherith Stephenson, Erica Jenkins-Farris; second row, Horn, Hannah Click, Alezandro Cuellar, Landon Eaton, Alex Montiel, Jesus Montiel, Clayton Weinmeister, David Owens, Keira Laudwig, Sara Jenkins, Centhany Vannoy, Terri Ann McCully; and back row, Achilles Branson, Coleman Kitchens, Andrew Osborn, Brody Boden, Xavier Davis, JW Struck, Blake Mayfield, Colton Livingston and Livia Varnell. The Pride earlier this month also earned a superior at the 90th Tri-State Music Festival in Enid. [Photo provided]
