Still no rain; freeze ahead
The rain predicted for last weekend failed to materialize locally.
However, KOCO-TV meteorologists said there was a chance of another front that could bring rain in the coming weekend. The National Weather Service forecast map called for clear skies through Friday.
The National Weather Service warned of a freeze watch Tuesday night.
Farmers here and across the state need rain to begin sowing small grain crops.
Portions of the state received showers over the weekend, mostly the southern tier of counties and some eastern counties.
Heaviest rainfall occurred at Medicine Park (Comanche County) which received 2.35 inches of rain. Ringling measured 1.78 inches of rain and Waurika received 1.71 inches.
Neighboring El Reno reported .55 inch while Minco received 1.07 inches.
