Stribel hosts February meeting of Hennessey Farmerettes

By

The Hennessey Farmerettes met, Thursday Feb. 8, in the home of Jean Stribel for its February meeting.

There were 11 members present and one guest, Denise Brim, was also in attendance.

President Pansy Wheeler called the meeting to order and the salute to the American flag was given.

Mary Curry gave the devotion entitled “For Love’s Sake,” which was followed by a prayer.

The treasurer’s report was given by Jamie Akenhead and approved. Members recited the Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) creed.

A lesson was given on “Festivals” and members answered roll call by telling of favorite festivals each had attended.

The lesson leader discussed various aspects about festivals including how they promote interest, pride and enjoyment when they are held.

Highlights from the OHCE-Kingfisher County Extension publication were shared with members.

Members decided to continue work on the club scrapbook and it was undecided as to how the club will celebrate OHCE week in May.

There was no quarter drill winner.

Billie Melendy provided each attendee with a potted pansy plant for their spring and summer enjoyment.

The meeting was adjourned and hostess Stribel served desserts and Valentine specialties to the group.
