Stribel hosts October meeting of the Hennessey Farmerettes
The Hennessey Farmerettes met at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Hennessey Mercantile.
President Dot Miller opened the meeting by leading the group in the pledge to the American flag and Mary Curry gave the devotion “Self Serve or Not.”
Roll call was answered by 10 members telling about any changes they have made in their homes to make them safer and more comfortable.
The minutes of the September meeting were read and approved.
The treasurer’s report was also given and approved.
Information about the Reality Check program for sophomores and seniors was discussed and some members volunteered to help with the program.
Members were informed that Kathy Patocka is collecting Best Choice labels and Miller shared articles from the OHCE newsletter.
Members discussed plans for Kingfisher Fall Council held Oct. 24, which the group volunteered to host.
Club officers elected for 2024 included: Pansy Wheeler, president; Paula Nicholson, vice president; Margie McConnell, secretary/reporter; Jamie Akenhead, treasurer; Dot Miller, parliamentarian and Mary Curry and Dot Miller, historian.
Curry will continue to give devotions at meetings and members voted to donate $25 to the Hennessey library as a club project.
Members were provided a list of possible lesson topics for next year’s meetings and asked to complete with their suggestions.
Nicholson will then provide the information to Kingfisher County OSU Extension Educator Lindy Peterman.
Akenhead gave an informative lesson on “Staying in your home as you age.”
The dollar drill was won by Miller.
The meeting was adjourned and refreshments were served, which were provided by hostess Jean Stribel.
