Sts. Peter & Paul Altar Society meets, plans to focus on new program

By

The Sts. Peter & Paul Altar society met Wednesday, Sept 11.

New officers this year are President Ann Finley, Vice President Janice Payne, Treasurer Carolyn Schulte, Secretary Carol Morkes and Chaplain Francene Eaton.

A report on funeral dinners was given by Cynthia Eaton.

The upcoming annual turkey dinner to be held on Nov. 3 was discussed. Chairmen are Cindy Wilczek and Finley.

The church board has approved using Ross Hall for pickle ball courts. This will be set up in November.

Chairmen are Kevin and Cindy Gruntmeir.

This year’s lessons will focus on the Corporal Works of Mercy and the Bible passage in James 2:26 stating that “faith without action is dead.”

Much publicity is given to “kindness” and how to be kind in our daily lives here in our town of Kingfi sher.

The Altar Society will look actively for concrete actions that reflect kindness.

For this month, the group discussed ways to “feed the hungry.”

The Altar Society delivers Meals on Wheels two days each month.

It was approved to donate silverware to the Catholic Charities that will be used for the refugee resettlement program.

The group also voted to donate to the Kingfisher Public Schools Child Nutrition Fund to pay off some of the unpaid lunch fees for school students.

For $30 per month per child, a student’s meals can be paid for by members who choose that option.

In addition, it was noted that several parishioners are currently homebound and would benefit from having meals delivered to them.

Several meals were packaged and delivered to those individuals that evening.

In closing, all members were encouraged to look for ways in their daily lives to impact those who might be in need of food assistance and to continue this mission.

The group will discuss “giving drink to the thirsty” at its next meeting to be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9.
