Superintendent search under way
The search for Kingfisher Public Schools’ new superintendent officially began Wednesday night.
The board of education held a special meeting, which was spent almost exclusively in executive session.
Before that closed session, board members accepted multiple resignations, most notably from Superintendent Dr. Daniel Craig.
Craig accepted a position two days earlier at Chisholm Trail Technology Center after about a year in his current position.
He submitted his resignation to Kingfisher board members after accepting the CTTC position Monday morning.
The Wednesday meeting was attended by school board Vice President Charles Walker, Clerk Dana Golbek and member Carly Franks.
President Jim Perdue and member Terry Payne were out of town when the meeting was scheduled and held.
The three members attending met in executive session for just under 10 minutes before calling in David Glover.
Glover recently accepted the position of athletics and operations director at KPS.
Prior to his current nine-year stint as an assistant director at the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association, Glover served as a superintendent at Newkirk, Bethel and Okarche.
Glover met with board members for two hours.
Members remained in executive session for about 10 minutes before returning to open session and adjourning.
The superintendent position has been posted for candidates to apply.
Resignations were also accepted from Bryan Dutton, Morgan Dutton, Brittany Phillips and Nicole Eaton.
Bryan and Morgan Dutton recently accepted teaching and coaching positions in Rogers, Ark., after one year with the district.
On top of teaching economics, Bryan Dutton was the head wrestling coach and an assistant football and baseball coach.
Morgan Dutton taught chemistry at KHS. She was also the head coach for junior high softball, girls basketball and girls track as well as a high school girls basketball and softball assistant.
Eaton was hired in April to be a special education teacher at KMS in 2022-23. Phillips was a paraprofessional.
