BUSINESS OF THE YEAR honors awarded at the Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce Banquet on Monday were presented to TerraStar, Inc. (large) and Skin and Beauty Esthetics (small). Wittrock family members pictured above accepting the honor were, beginning third f

Hydro excavation and micro channeling.

The people who provide those services - and many others - were honored at Monday night’s 86th Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce Banquet at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds.

TerraStar, Inc., was announced as the Large Business of the Year while Skin and Beauty Esthetics was named the Small Business of the Year.

To be eligible, businesses must be members of the Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce and have been in operation for at least three years.

The small businesses have nine employees or less while large ones employee 10 or more.

Savanah Johnston was referred to as a “one-woman show” by the person who nominated her for the Small Business of the Year.

Jamae Frey read that nomination, though she did not submit it.

“SBE honestly can compete with any of the largescale spas when it comes to professionalism and Savanah’s ability to cater to clients, allowing them to experience moments of pampering and escaping to relaxation and quiet,” Frey read.

“Each appointment you have with her is an experience as she goes above and beyond to make certain that you come away feeling pampered and more beautiful than when you arrive,” the nomination continued.

“Her ability to market her small business is amazing. She’s constantly sharing new products and making the public aware of her services through social media and other avenues.”

Johnston accepted the award along with one of her three children, Raegen.

The person nominating Johnston’s business also said, “It’s encouraging to see her grow in a small community from a one-room operation to an office and a spa and soon her own Main Street building.”

The growth on the outside, according to nomination, is due to what Johnston radiates from the inside.

“The most admirable quality about Savanah Johnston is her humility and sincere desire to make others’ lives better,” Frey read. “She is driven, creative and not afraid to try new things.

“Kingfisher can boast proudly of this true gem that she calls Skin and Beauty Esthetics, just one more reason that our community has so much to offer.”

Darcy Reherman nominated TerraStar and also presented the award at the banquet.

The company’s president and owner is Brad Wittrock who, like Johnston, is a Kingfisher High School graduate.

He started the company and eventually moved it to Kingfisher along with his wife Starla and children Teegan and Braylee.

“While Kingfisher is a relatively small town, we are blessed with numerous businesses who never fail to show up and sponsor events when needed,” Reherman said.

“We are especially blessed when a Kingfisher native brings his family and his company back to our community.”

Reherman said the Wittrocks are generous with their time and also have created “a culture of community” with their company.

“It is no surprise that when the chamber needs trucks and trailers to set up barriers for the Christmas parade, that TerraStar is the first that comes to mind,” Reherman said.

“Not only do they offer for the Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce to utilize their equipment, but their employees show up as well with a smile on their face, ready to lend a hand.”

There’s also the familiar massive TerraStar smoker and grill that’s hauled around on a trailer.

“I cannot count the number of times I’ve encountered the TerraStar trailer with grill preparing food for youth sporting events in Kingfisher,” Reherman said.

“I’m thankful that Brad and Starla have made Kingfi sher their home and would love to see their company honored with this award as I thank you for your dedication and commitment to our town.”
