Theta Tau installs new officers
Theta Tau Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha met at 6 p.m. Monday, May 22, in the home of Cynthia Eaton for its spring social and installation of officers.
The social committee served brisket, buns, potato salad, baked beans and a relish tray.
After the installation ceremony, a cake, decorated by Eaton with a train and Dana Golbek’s theme, was served along with punch.
Cathy Holsted, installing officer, installed the following: Golbek, president;Teri Stake, vice president; Ramona Paine, secretary; Cathy Holsted, treasurer; Terri Peck, educational chair; and Paige Kraus, parliamentarian.
Golbek’s theme will be “All Aboard with Theta Tau, Embrace the Journey.”
Holsted used Golbek’s theme to have a track and train, conductor’s hat, railroad crossing sign and miniature train for each of the officers and all members received a whistle to blow.
The train was electric so it was running after the ceremony.
Cathy and Doc Holsted attended the state convention in Tulsa April 29-30.
Holsted honored Reginia Grabow in the memorial service and Doc carried the chapter banner in the opening ceremonies.
The chapter won numerous awards, including Doc Holsted being recognized for 15 years of service.
Other awards presented included: Membership- Most New Members, honorable mention; Membership Growth Award, honorable mention; Philanthropic Hours, third place; Philanthropic-Monies, third place; St. Jude, third Place - $1500 for a Non-Alsac event; State Project-Monies reported, second place; Care Connection/ Hope for Heroes, second place; Disaster Fund - $500 – second place; ESA Norma Moore/ESA Foundation - $900 – second place and ESA Foundation-$ 6,000 State Contest first place; State Project-donations, first place and Hope for Heroes certificate for participation.
On Saturday night at the banquet, the St. Jude chapter procession was held and Theta Tau was recognized for $30,897.99 for the participation in working the Dream Home and other contributions.
For the awards, Theta Tau competes in the 16-plus members category.
Ramona Paine, will serve on the state committee as outstanding chapter chairman.
Cathy Holsted and Stormy Simmons will serve as chairman and co-chairman, respectively, of the 2024 state convention to be held in Midwest City in April 2024.
Secret sisters were revealed and new names were drawn for next year.
The group will return to its business meetings on the third Monday in September.
