Theta Tau members hold April meeting
Theta Tau Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha met at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall at 7 p.m. Monday, April 18.
President Karen Castonguay opened the meeting with the members reciting their opening ritual.
Ramona Paine, chaplain, gave the devotional “The Lesson of the Lantern.”
Terri Peck, educational director, introduced the speaker, Brittney Hladik, who spoke about the history and projects of Santa’s Toyland that happens each December.
Also in the summer they administer a backpack program for local students.
Donations are always welcome, Hladik said, and one of its fundraisers is a golf tournament.
Hladik is one of the nine board of directors of Kingfisher Community Collaborative, which directs both projects.
Hope for Heroes donation jar was passed around with the proceeds going to the veterans benefit program.
A donation from the money jar was sent to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Cathy Holsted, ways and means chairman, reported the club has made the following donations for the year: Dover Christian Church, First Christian Church, Disaster Fund, Easter Seals, Shoes that Fit, VFW and Wounded Warrior.
The members will be working the St. Jude Dream Home in Edmond in August.
Holsted and Stormy Simmons will be co-chairs for the 2024 Oklahoma State Council Convention with Patty Heer, Shawnee, as state president.
The meeting was closed with the members reciting the closing ritual.
The hostess, Simmons, served Italian crème cake in honor of her mother’s birthday.
Madell Henderson and LaVenia Boutwell served drinks to: Donna McPherson, Holsted, Castonguay, Ramona Paine, Misty Blundell, Debi Trout, Dana Golbek, Teri Stake, Peck, Ally Carter and baby daughter Avery, Cynthia Eaton and Paige Krause.
The members joined in singing “Happy Birthday” to Holsted.
The group’s May 10 (date change) meeting will be a social, installation of officers and the revealing of secret sisters. The club will return in September.
