Theta Tau Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha met at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15.

Members wore their chapter shirts, “Let’s Fiesta, Theta Tau,” at the meeting.

President Karen Castonguay opened the meeting with the members reciting the opening ritual.

Ramona Paine, chaplain, gave the devotional “Thank the Lord from A to Z.”

Teri Peck, educational director, introduced the guest speaker for the evening, Cindy Kottwitz, an interior designer who has spent 32 years as a furniture buyer and she gave the group tips for decorating their homes.

Kottwitz addressed some things that should be considered when decorating: how tall are the ceilings, lighting, line/shape, space/ size and texture.

She said she prefers white walls as this is a safe color and then add color to them by adding accessories as this was a starting point for members to consider when decorating.

Cathy Holsted presented a mini educational on how to store fresh shelled pecans.

The following information was shared: 1) Shelled pecans can be kept in the refrigerator for about nine months and for up to two years in the freezer; 2) Pecans can be thawed and re-frozen repeatedly during the two-year freezing period without loss of flavor or texture; 3) Airtight containers, such as jars with lids are best for storing pecans in the refrigerator; and 4) Sealed plastic bags are best for storing pecans in the freezer.

Theta Tau members use a lot of pecans in their baking projects.

Holsted had purchased extra pecans and had them to sell to the members at the meeting.

Hope for Heroes donation jar was passed around with the proceeds going to the veterans benefit pro-gram.

The meeting was closed with the members reciting the closing ritual.

Debi Trout and Karen Edgar, hostesses, served refreshments to Donna McPherson, Holsted, Dana-Terrell, Peck, Castonguay, Paine, Cynthia Eaton, Misty Blundell, Stormy Simmons, Paige Krause and Lavenia Boutwell.

The group’s next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at the home of Cynthia Eaton with the Social Committee as hostesses for the group’s Christmas social and gift exchange.
