Theta Tau members learn of name change for ESA
Theta Tau Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha met at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, in the Fellowship Hall of the First Christian Church. President Stormy Simmons opened the meeting with members repeating their new ESA Mission Statement.
For the chaplain’s part, Simmons read “Advice from the Elephants.”
Beth Schieber has volunteered to be the chaplain.
Simmons reported on what has been happening in the ESA organization.
The group is no longer being referred to as a sorority as now men are accepted into the organization.
The new name is ESAMC (Epsilon Sigma Alpha Membership Corporation).
Most business will be conducted digitally and the group will no longer address headquarters as its main business destination.
Dues were due. Members received their new yearbook pages for the year made by Cathy Holsted.
Members brought shoes to the meeting for the Western District fundraiser in Oklahoma City on Oct. 19.
The ESA Foundation scholarship is now open from September through February.
St. Jude’s fundraiser is $5 million in four years. The chapter will do a fundraiser later in the year for St. Jude’s.
Holsted received her 50year pin at IC Convention in July. Theta Tau will be 50 years old in November.
It was decided not to have a booth at Winterfest this year, but to do cinnamon rolls in the fall and spring and take preorders.
Aunt Bill’s candy will still be available in the fall with preorders as well as Amish bread.
Cathy and Doc Holsted attended the Leadership meeting Sept. 13 in Tulsa and participated in Shopping on the Mall with cinnamon rolls and Amish bread. Cathy Holsted also took socks for the Hope for Heroes project.
A basket will be donated for a raffle to Joys to the World carnival on Sept. 21 in Tulsa. Joys to the World is an organization that helps adults who have aged out of foster care.
Hostesses Dana Terrell and Karen Hubbard served refreshments to Debi Trout, Karen Edgar, Ramona Paine, Holsted, Simmons, Schieber, Cynthia Eaton and Dana Golbek.
The next meeting will be Oct. 20 with Trout and Edgar serving as hostesses.
