Thursday storm brings rain, dose of small hail
A spring-like shower, accompanied by light hail, slipped into Kingfisher County Thursday evening.
Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis recorded .31 inch of rain at the National Weather Service Station in Kingfisher. The local Mesonet station on the Mueggenborg farm immediately west of Kingfisher recorded .32 inch of moisture.
Other area Mesonet readings included .77 inch at Guthrie, .02 inch at Watonga, .65 inch at El Reno and .13 inch at Marshall.
Local residents reported as much as a half-inch.
With Bradford Pear trees in full bloom locally as well as a surge of greenery supplied by henbit in lawns, roadsides and pastures, as well as recent warmer temperatures, local residents are seeing hopes for spring fever.
Area small grain fields continue to prosper with adequate moisture.
Drill tracks indicate applications of nitrogen on fields destined for harvest.
Herds of stocker calves continue to make substantial gains on fields scheduled for graze-out.
