Thursday storms bring rain
A thunderstorm, complete with brilliant lightning, dropped heavy showers on portions of Kingfisher County Thursday evening.
Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis recorded .7 inch at the National Weather Service station in Kingfisher.
The Mesonet site at the Mueggenborg Farm immediately west of Kingfisher recorded .68 inch.
Other county reports included: Hennessey CHS Elevator, .75 inch; Okarche Grain and Feed Elevator, .8 inch; Wheeler Brothers Grain Elevator at Omega, .75 inch with some local farmers reporting up to one inch; Cashion Grain and Feed Elevator, .5 inch; Twila Adams residence, five miles east of Kingfisher, .5 inch; Mike and Donna Reid residence, southwest of Okarche, one inch; Tom Arms, west of Kingfisher, .9 inch; LJ Reherman, southeast of Kingfisher, .7 inch; Aaron Richards, five miles north of Kingfisher, 1.39 inches, and Melissa Knecht, east of Okarche, .5 inch.
Other area Mesonet rain reports included: Watonga, .78 inch; El Reno, .44 inch; Guthrie, .36 inch; Marshall, .58 inch; Lahoma, .72 inch; Fairview, .69 inch; and Yukon, .58 inch.
The rain was welcome on the area’s emerging small grain fields, some of which were recently planted and others which were sown earlier and are already being grazed by livestock.
