Tillis, Jackson host Hasley at concert

Cashion resident Mary Hasley was the guest of two legendary entertainers recently at a concert in Oklahoma City.

Grammy Award-winning country recording artist Pam Tillis was in town, performing a tribute to Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member and “Queen of Rockabilly,” Wanda Jackson.

The show was held at Oklahoma City’s Yale Theater on Aug. 15.

Tillis and Jackson invited Hasley to be their guest.

“Mom and Dad went to all of Wanda’s concerts when they were first married back in the ‘50s,” said Hasley’s son, Mark Beutler.

“So, she has been a longtime fan, and in recent years they have become friends.”

Beutler and Tillis met when he was a DJ at KXY Radio and she was an upand- coming artist.

“We first met in Nashville in the early ‘90s,” Beutler remembered. “I started going to her concerts, had her as a guest on my radio show, and sent roses when she was named the CMA’s ‘Female Vocalist of the Year.’ Mom was a fan of Pam’s father, Mel Tillis, and loves Pam. And the feeling is definitely mutual!”

Also attending the concert was Hasley’s daughter, Judy Nakvinda of Cashion, and her best friend, Patricia Goodpasture of Crescent.

The tribute concert headlined by Tillis was a benefit for the Oklahoma Historical Society.
