ROTARY TALK – Carla Burdick, left, executive director of Red Carpet Country, spoke at a recent Kingfisher Rotary Club meeting. Red Carpet Country represents northwest Oklahoma as part of the Oklahoma Tourism Department and Travel Oklahoma. Burdick told Rotarians that in the most recent totals collected for 2021, tourism was a $10.1 billion industry. She said tourism was also the third-largest industry in the state, with $748 million tourism tax dollars collected, over 96,800 employees across the state and a $2.6 billion direct economic benefit statewide. Burdick works with communities, museums and chamber of commerce directors across the area to promote tourism trade.
