Berry Tramel, left, sports columnist for the Tulsa World newspaper and also a daily voice on the Oklahoma City-based Sports Animal radio station, was the guest speaker of the Kingfi sher Rotary Club last week. Tramel, who began his sports writing career at the Norman Transcript newspaper while still in high school, told of his career covering high school, college and professional sports in the state over his 40-plus year career. Tramel went on to become the featured sports writer and columnist for The Daily Oklahoman (the name later changed to The Oklahoman) for 32 years beginning in 1990, then moved to the short-lived Oklahoma-based Sellout Crowd, an infamous internet sports media outlet startup which had a run of less than one year before failing fi nancially. He said landing at the Tulsa World was a very enjoyable experience for him. Tramel answered questions from the membership and guests which involved stories about his relationship and interactions with legendary football coach Barry Switzer and the future of sports journalism across the nation as markets become increasingly fragmented. Tramel was introduced by Kingfi sher Rotarian John Johnson, right. [KT&FP Staff Photo]
