Treasurer clarifies tax totals
A story in Sunday’s Kingfisher Times & Free Press incorrectly reported the amount of ad valorem taxes collected through Dec. 22, County Treasurer Robin Rother said.
A total of 26.684% of the $46,874,013 county property taxes assessed had been paid by that date.
That amounts to a hefty $12,507,693, according to figures provided by Rother.
By close of business Monday, county collections had jumped to $14,491,717, or nearly 31% of the total assessment.
Kingfisher County ad valorem tax rolls opened for collection two weeks ago.
Property owners have until Friday to pay at least the first half of their 2021 tax bills without penalty.
Taxpayers who elect to do so may pay one-half of their total bill and delay payment of the second until March 31 without penalty.
Tax that becomes delinquent will be charged an interest rate of one-half percent per month.
