Treasurer reports about 5 percent of ad valorem taxes collected to date

By

A total of $2,347,758 of the county’s $46,287,686 in 2023 ad valorem tax total had been paid through Thursday, 5.072% of the total certified for collection, County Treasurer Robin Rother has announced.

The deadline to pay this year’s property tax, which goes principally to finance county school districts, is Dec. 29.

The actual date is Dec. 31, a Sunday, when the courthouse will not be open.

However, taxes mailed with a Dec. 31 postmark will be accepted as paid on time.

Another provision helpful to taxpayers allows those who elect to do so to pay one-half their tax balance by the end of December and delay the second half payment, without penalty, until March 31.
