Treasurer reports more than half of taxes collected

By

Kingfisher County Treasurer Robin Rother reported that 51.455% of the county’s total ad valorem tax bill for 2021 had been paid as of Friday morning.

Of the $46,874,013 county property taxes assessed, that amounts to $24,118,602 collected to date, according to figures provided by Rother.

Kingfisher County ad valorem tax rolls opened for collection in December and property owners had a deadline of Dec. 31 to pay at least the first half of their 2021 tax bills without penalty.

Taxpayers who elected to do so have until March 31 to pay the remainder of their tax bill.

Tax that becomes delinquent will be charged an interest rate of onehalf percent per month.

Some entities have filed formal protests of their assessment amounts and a little over $1.24 million in total tax payments will be held in an escrow account until those protests are resolved.
