Two Okeene children hurt in county crash

By

An apparent mechanical failure caused an accident that resulted in two Okeene children being injured Friday in an auto accident.

The accident happened about 3 1/2 miles east of Loyal on County Road E720, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The report said Uriel Enoc Calix Peralta, 26, of Okeene, was driving a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder east on CR720 when a mechanical failure caused him to lose control of the vehicle at about 2 p.m.

It departed the road to the left and rolled 1 1/4 times, the report said.

One of the passengers, a juvenile male, was ejected from the vehicle through an open door during the roll and was pinned by the vehicle for about 23 minutes.

He suffered leg injuries and was flown to Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City by medical helicopter. The report said he was in stable condition.

A second juvenile passenger, a female, was taken by ambulance to Children’s Hospital and listed in stable condition. Injuries were not listed in the report.

Ana Chacon, 32, of Okeene, was also a passenger, but was not injured, nor was Peralta.

The report said Peralta and Chacon were wearing seatbelts.

The female juvenile was in a front-facing child seat while the male juvenile was not wearing a seatbelt, the report said.

Joining OHP at the scene were Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Department, Kingfisher Fire Department, Kingfisher EMS, Loyal Fire Department and Air Evac.
