• Kingfisher Friends of the Library Book Sale is happening now and runs through this Saturday, Nov. 23. It’s taking place at the Kingfisher Memorial Library Community Room (505 W. Will Rogers Drive). Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Proceeds will be used to promote children’s summer reading programs, Ancestry library edition for patrons’ use, help with promoting the library and supporting Children’s Story Time. Friends of the Library also assists with the Imagination Library program, which provides a free book each month to enrolled children through age 5. Donations also are accepted.

• A FREE Thanksgiving Dinner is being served Thursday, Nov. 21, at Kingfisher Elks Lodge’s South Room. The dinner is sponsored by God’s Covenant Church, Ministerial Alliance and Kingfisher Elks Lodge #2416. Everyone is invited to the dinner, which will be served beginning at 6 p.m.

• Kingfisher will get off to its official festive start this Friday thanks to the Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce and its members. The Community Christmas Tree Lighting is at 6 p.m. just outside the Chamber office at the northeast corner of U.S. 81 and S.H. 33. (Main and Broadway). It will feature prizes and live singing by the KHS Choir.

• As part of the Christmas festivities, Pink Friday Shopping will be taking place as downtown merchants will be open late ( 5 to 8 p.m.) For more on what those merchants have to offer, see the advertisement on Page 2.

• Christmas on Main at Block 35 rounds out Friday night’s Chamber fun. There will be food, vendors, face painting, live reindeer, Santa and much more.

• The date has changed for the Backwoods Country Music Show at the Centre Theatre in downtown El Reno (110 S. Bickford Ave.). Previously planned for Nov. 30, it will now be held this Saturday, Nov. 23. For more information, including special guests, see the ad on Page 3.
