U.S. House Dist. 3 Republicans to decide congressional winner

By

GOP voters in Oklahoma’s largest congressional district will elect a representative for a two-year term in Washington, D.C., in the Tuesday, June 18, election.

No Democrats filed to represent the 32 counties in the third congressional district that includes Kingfi sher County.

Those 34,088 square miles in northern and western Oklahoma run from the panhandle to the suburbs of Tulsa and down to the Red River outside Altus.

Candidates are Frank D. Lucas, incumbent, Cheyenne; Robin Lynn Carder, a Sand Springs healthcare consultant; and Darren Hamilton, a Ft. Supply satellite engineer.

Robin Lynn Carder wrote in her online information that she’s a fourth generation Oklahoman whose family came to Oklahoma during the oil boom years.

Also, that her work for the last three years “to get to the bottom of the problems with 2020 and 2022 elections with both national and state leaders… resulted in a raid from the FBI.”

Her site also shows she and her husband of 17 years, Russell, have three children and two grandchildren.

Carder worked in the managed care industry for more than 30 years.

She wrote that she has a bachelor of business administration in accounting and master of business administration from Oklahoma State University as well as a master of legal studies in healthcare law from the University of Oklahoma School of Law.

Darren Hamilton’s online information is that he grew up in the rural Western U.S. “following my single mother around where she could find work training horses.”

He wrote they were on welfare “at times” and he “changed schools about every year.”

He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in earth science-geohydrology from Montana State University in Bozeman.

After college he went to work in environmental contaminants testing, then “fell into a career in satellite technology: and has been working in that industry ever since.

“For over 23 years I have been designing, building, launching and operating communication satellites…I was able to live my dreams, but in recent years I see everyone else’s dreams falling apart. I fear for my children’s future, I fear for all of our kid’s futures.”

Frank Lucas is the dean of Oklahoma’s congressional delegation. He has been the third congressional district representative since 2003 after redistricting and previously was the sixth congressional district representative from 1995-03.

Lucas is a 1983 Oklahoma State University graduate.

He and his wife, Lynda, live in Cheyenne and have three children and three grandchildren.

His family has farmed in western Oklahoma for more than 100 years.

Lucas underwent hip surgery last August after being injured while riding horses on his ranch.

He has chaired the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology since 2023 and is a member of the Agriculture and Financial Services committees.
