Utah man purchased two former newspaper buildings
The Times & Free Press was told that the two former newspaper office buildings in Hennessey and Canton purchased online in April will be used as lease and rental properties.
The 5,050 square foot Clipper building, which has been empty since the newspaper was shut down in 2019, is believed to be about 100 years old and was purchased through Wiggins Real Estate auction for $26,000 by Corey Shuman of Utah.
In that same auction, Shuman bought the former Canton Times newspaper property. That newspaper was merged with the Okeene Record newspaper.
That 1,600 square foot building on Main Street in Canton sold for $16,000.
Both properties had been owned by the Laubach family’s Okeene Trail Miller Co.
Jeremy Beaman’s 7B Construction Co. in Hennessey is doing the work on both the Hennessey and Canton properties.
