Voting starts Thursday for city, school seats
Early voting starts Thursday at the Kingfisher County Courthouse for three county school board seats and one post on the Kingfisher City Commission.
Early voting is conducted outside the county election board office from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
Voters eligible to participate in each of the elections also will be able to cast ballots at their normal precinct polling places from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 5.
Kingfisher City Commission
Only registered voters residing within Kingfisher city limits may cast a ballot for the city commission seat, a choice between incumbent Bill Tucker and challenger Ryan Deatherage.
School Board Seats
Kingfisher, Hennessey and Cashion school district patrons will cast ballots for school board seats. Candidates include:
Kingfisher Public Schools – Dana Golbek, incumbent; Mitch Massey.
Hennessey Public Schools – James Matousek, incumbent; Chandra Seiger.
Dover Public Schools – Matilda Caldwell, incumbent; Adam Schilde.
CITY OF KINGFISHER
Bill Tucker Ryan Deatherage BILL TUCKER has served on the city commission since 2018, following 31 years serving the city as city clerk, city treasurer, certified building inspector, floodplain administrator and grant writer. A decorated Vietnam veteran, he holds degrees in accounting and commercial-residental electricity and is a graduate of the OSU municipal clerk and treasurer institutes. He and wife Linda have four children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. “If re-elected, I will continue supporting maintenance of streets, city buildings and equipment to achieve the effective operation of the city of Kingfisher. Please exercise your Constitutional right to vote.”
RYAN DEATHERAGE served as a city council member and mayor in Goodwell before moving to Kingfisher in 2004. He has a bachelor’s degree in ag business with a minor in finance and is the owner of a landscaping franchise. He’s the father of three children, Andrew, Aubrey and Amy and a volunteer with Oklahoma Baptist Relief. “I’m ready to put my business skills – long-range planning, working within budgets and day-to-day operations, just to name a few – and my municipal government experience to work serving the citizens of Kingfisher in this role. It’s been a goal of mine for some time now.”
KPS SCHOOL BOARD
Dana Golbek Mitch Massey DANA GOLBEK has served two terms on the KPS school board and taught high school math for 32 years at KHS and 21 years at Redlands Community College. She and her late husband Larry raised two sons in Kingfisher, Eric and Mark, and she now has five grandchildren, two of whom attend Kingfisher schools. “I have dedicated my life to education and have developed an in-depth knowledge of my district and a working relationship with our administration, faculty and staff based on mutual respect, collegiality and a joint commitment to student success. I believe my background and experience give me a unique perspective.”
MITCH MASSEY attended Kingfisher Public Schools from fifth grade through his graduation in 1988. He also holds a B.S. in construction technology from the University of Central Oklahoma and owns a construction business. He and wife Tamara (KHS 1987) have three daughters, Aly and Aby, both KHS graduates, and Anna, a sophomore. “A school board member’s job is first and foremost about educating students and giving them all the tools and materials they need to succeed from grade school through graduation and that happens by attracting and retaining the best teachers, coaches and administrators.”
DPS SCHOOL BOARD
Matilda Caldwell Adam Schilde MATILDA CALDWELL is seeking a second term on the school board. A Dover native, she graduated from DHS in 1971 and worked as a certified hospice nurse, retiring in 2010. She and husband Frank have five children, Fhonda, Alfonzo “AJ”, Alexander, Frances and Stephanie, all Dover graduates. She also has a number of grandchildren who have graduated from Dover, as well as several still attending school. “I have a vested interest in the Dover district and would love to continue to be a part of it. We have accomplished so much and we are not done yet. I would love to serve four more years.”
Adam Schilde is a 1996 DHS grad and worked in trucking, construction, pipeline and oil and gas, and currently owns and operates Redline Energy. He and wife Kelli (DHS 2002) have three children, the fourth generation of his family to attend Dover schools, Alec, 17; Allie, 15, and Kyler, 13. “I have lived in Dover all my life and have witnessed how important our school is to our community. My focus will always be to provide opportunities for our children and to assist in making the best possible decisions to strengthen our school and our community.”
HPS SCHOOL BOARD
James Matousek Chandra Seiger JAMES MATOUSEK has served on the school board for 11 years, and is a 1997 HHS grad and earned a DVM from the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. He is the owner/veterinarian at Wheatland Veterinary Hospital and owner/operator of a Hennessey cattle company. He and wife Sarah have seven children: Jocelyn, eighth grade; JoHanna, sixth; Julianne, fifth; Jessica, third; Joy, first; Jane, pre-K, and David Mark, age 1. “I wish to continue assisting in improving the educational process for all students in our school district, assuring that faculty and staff have the support they deserve and acting as a good steward of our tax money through prudent and effective spending.”
CHANDRA GARCIA-SEIGER is vice president of Seiger Oil & Gas and the office manager at Gilliland Oil & Gas. A Hennessey native, she was 2006 HHS valedictorian and attended Northern Oklahoma College. She serves on the Hennessey Educational Foundation, Mothers Club and PTO and community volunteer. She and husband Damon have two daughters, Brylee, sixth grade, and Emilee, kindergarten. “I’d like to bring a new point of view to the school board, as a mom with two daughters in the school system. I am passionate, open-minded and will make it a priority to serve our kids, teachers and parents.”
