Voting starts Thursday for town, school seats

By

Early voting starts Thursday at the Kingfisher County Courthouse for the vacant Hennessey Town Board seat and primary elections for three county school board seats.

Early voting is conducted outside the county election board office from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

Voters eligible to participate in each of the elections also will be able to cast ballots at their normal precinct polling places from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8.

Hennessey Town Board Only registered voters residing

Only registered voters residing within Hennessey town limits may cast a ballot for town trustee, a choice between David Jones and Frank Patton.

The winner of the election will serve the remainder of the unexpired term of Keith Meek, who resigned last year.

School Board Seats

Dover and Cashion school district patrons will cast ballots in school board primary elections in their respective school districts.

Nathan Guinn, Sheila Holmes and Jason G. Witt are vying to serve the unexpired term for Dover’s Seat No. 1, while Chris Carroll, Chuck Kordis and Jenifer Stockton have filed for Cashion’s Seat No. 2.

If one of the three candidates in each race receives a majority of the votes cast (at least 50% plus 1), the top two vote-getters in each race will advance to the general election in April.

Three other county school board races, each which drew just two candidates, will not be voted on until the April election – Dover Seat No. 2, Hennessey Seat No. 2 and Kingfisher Seat No. 2.

County residents who live within the boundaries of the Cimarron or Piedmont school districts may also cast ballots in those school board races Tuesday.
