Wagons, Ho!

Chuckwagon Gathering to offer sights, sounds, tastes of Old West at local museum Saturday

By
Wagons, Ho!

If you’re seeing this edition before 3 p.m. Saturday, you still have time to take in the sights, sounds and – most importantly – tastes of the Old West at the Chisholm Trail Museum’s annual outdoor Chuckwagon Gathering. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and admission is free. Volunteers and museum workers were scurrying Friday to unload wagons, above. In addition to cast iron cooking demonstrations, like the scrumptious pie Becky Conway whipped up last year (top right, with Jason Harris, CTM executive director), plenty of re-enactments are in store, including Marna Davis’ portrayal of trick shooter Annie Oakley (center right). CTM education specialist Bradley Fritch loads ice tea into coolers to provide plenty of chilled refreshment (bottom right) Admission is free and while the luncheon has sold out, plenty of food samples will be available.
