Soon enough, anyway, as 2 major Kingfisher County bridge projects begin
Start of work on several county bridge and road projects has started or is near at hand.
Jeff Moss, District 1 commissioner and chairman of the board of county commissioners, reported Monday that work was beginning Tuesday on the Robberts Avenue bridge replacement project over Uncle John Creek at the east edge of Kingfisher.
He also said the contractor has already completed two concrete piers at the Phillips bridge over Uncle John Creek on Lemon Road, which is approximately three miles east of U.S. Highway 81 northeast of Kingfisher.
The Phillips bridge replacement project also involves straightening the west approach to the bridge.
District 3 Commissioner Anthony Schwarz reported that Schwarz Paving of Oklahoma City has indicated it may begin work on District 1 and 3 asphalt overlay projects as early as next week.
Schwarz Paving was the low bidder on the projects at a prior meeting.
District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek moved Tuesday during the commission’s weekly meeting to approve payments of $1,000 and $1,500 for condemned parcels on the portion of the Dover-Crescent Road scheduled for resurfacing.
Shimanek also moved for approval of plans for a bridge over an unnamed creek about one mile north of Dover-Crescent Road on NS2970.
Another District 2 action item included approving a resolution (No. 15) project agreement for bridge and approaches work on EW Road 640 located 1.5 miles south and .8 mile west of Hennessey over Turkey Creek.
The project involves an agreement between King- fisher County and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, which will provide financial assistance through the County Improvement for Roads and Bridges (CIRB) program.
Action on other items at the commissioners’ meeting included the following:
• Approved payment of $3,786 in repairs to the heating and air conditioning system at the county jail.
• Approved a juvenile detention transport claim in the amount of $176.29 to the state office of juvenile affairs.
• Approved two 12-inch pipeline crossing permits for Ovintiv at a location two miles west and one mile south of Loyal, extending west to the county line in District 3.
• Approved a pipeline crossing for K&J Construction for 12-inch and threeinch freshwater lines located three miles north and four miles east of Kingfisher in District 1.
• Approved project manager acquisition for two parcels of land for $2,000 and acquisition of secured/ condemned 50% of two parcels of land for $3,000, all in District 3. It’s for a project over Porcupine Creek.
• Approved project manager acquisition of two parcels of land in District 2, one for $1,000 and another for $1,500 for project over unnamed creek.
