Weather Act Passes House

FAA Reauthorization Passes the House

Weather Act Passes House

This month in Washington, among a number of other bills that passed, I worked with Chairman Thompson to pass the next Farm Bill out of the House Committee on Agriculture.

In Oklahoma, I traveled around the state for some important meetings and events.

This month, the House Committee on Agriculture completed the gargantuan task of passing a Farm Bill out of Committee. As a former chairman of this Committee, I know firsthand just how difficult this process can be.

Not only does this bill continue the good work done by the committee over the last decade, but it secures much needed investments into the farm safety net and conservation title, all while assuring our neighbors that they have the calories they need.

I am happy to support this essential piece of legislation and I look forward to working with the chairman and my colleagues to advance it on the House Floor.

The House passed the Weather Act Reauthorization this past month, which I drafted alongside my colleagues on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee.

I cannot stress enough how crucial it is to invest in our country’s weather system. The tornadoes that have hit Oklahoma this year serve as a reminder of the need for early and accurate forecasting of severe weather. And it’s not only in emergencies but also in our daily routines, from deciding what to wear in the morning to efficiently planning when to plant crops.

I want to thank Ranking Member Zoe Lofgren, my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, and our valuable stakeholders for supporting this critical piece of legislation. I am proud to lead another comprehensive weather bill that will undoubtedly impact every American.

The Weather Act was not the only legislation that the Science, Space, and Technology Committee was focused on. We were also working on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization, which the House overwhelmingly passed.

This essential bill will improve air traffic controller training – especially at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in OKC – saving thousands of jobs in Oklahoma’s Third District.

I also spoke on the floor in support of the Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act, which passed the House and will provide regulatory certainty necessary to allow digital asset innovation to flourish in the United States. This bill was put forward by the House Financial Services Committee and the House Ag Committee, both of which I serve on.

The U.S. needs a clear federal framework for digital assets because the status- quo simply does not work.

Meeting with Oklahoma Chambers of Commerce

It was amazing to have the Enid and Norman Chambers of Commerce in DC this month to discuss a number of local issues and what’s been happening in Washington.
